Mag Machinery PLC
Machinery and Industrial Equipment Importer · Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
When demand grows faster than your team can answer.
Mag Machinery PLC is a respected Ethiopian importer of heavy-duty industrial equipment, serving customers with machinery and technical solutions across the market. As customer interest grew, increasing call volumes led to missed opportunities during busy periods and outside working hours. Lucy provided a customer communication and lead-management system that handles calls simultaneously, qualifies customer needs, and equips the sales team with the information

They were generating customer interest faster than their team could handle it.
Mag Machinery had invested in strong promotional and marketing activities, and customers were responding. But that created an operational bottleneck.
Multiple potential customers could call at the same time while members of the team were already assisting other customers.
Many calls were also coming in outside normal working hours.
Every unanswered call represented a potential customer who moved on to another supplier.
Lucy became the first layer between Mag Machinery and its customers.
Lucy worked with Mag Machinery to connect their short-code number to the platform.
The initial integration and deployment took approximately three weeks.
Once live, Lucy became the first point of contact for incoming customers handling the initial conversation before passing the right opportunities to the human team.
How many calls Lucy answers at the same time is set by the SIP capacity a business provisions, not by the platform. Mag Machinery asked for 5 or more concurrent calls, so that is what their line carries. On a SIP system sized for it, Lucy can handle more than 1,000 calls at once.
Lucy can:
- Answer 5 or more calls simultaneously, as their SIP capacity allows
- Remain available outside normal working hours
- Provide information about Mag Machinery's products
- Answer frequently asked questions
- Collect customer information
- Understand what machinery or service the customer is interested in
- Qualify potential customers according to Mag Machinery's own criteria
- Schedule appointments
- Transfer customers to human agents when necessary
Every call can become an opportunity the team can act on.
Previously, an unanswered call could simply disappear. With Lucy, customer conversations can be captured, transcribed and analyzed. The system gives Mag Machinery a clearer view of what is happening across their customer interactions.

- 5
Follow-up
The team can see which customers require attention and decide where to focus their sales effort.
The information doesn't stop at the phone call.
As part of the implementation, Lucy also provided Mag Machinery with a CRM and customer management environment designed around their workflow.
The team can use it to:
- Manage customers
- Track leads
- Review conversations
- Understand customer needs
- Prioritize opportunities
Built around Mag Machinery, not the other way around.
One of the most important parts of the project was tailoring the system to how Mag Machinery actually qualifies and handles customers. Rather than forcing the company into a generic workflow, we configured the platform around their own requirements.
Their qualification criteria can be used to help distinguish:
High-potential leads
Leads requiring attention
Lost / low-priority leads
This means the system isn't simply collecting calls. It's helping the team decide what to do with them.
The team can see what happened not just the final result.
Mag Machinery has access to the information generated through customer interactions.
They can review call recordings and the AI analysis to verify what was discussed during a call.
We built the infrastructure around the conversation.
The project extended beyond the voice interface.
Lucy also provided supporting infrastructure for Mag Machinery's operation, including:
- CRM & Customer Management
- Automated Backups
- End to End encrypted Security Procedures
- Processes designed to provide greater security around customer and operational data.
Mag Machinery can handle more customer conversations without putting everything on the human team.
Lucy handles the 5 or more simultaneous calls Mag Machinery asked for, and will scale past 1,000 concurrent calls on a SIP system provisioned for that volume, removing a major limitation of a human-only phone operation.
Customers can reach the business during and outside normal working hours.
- More customer conversations
- Sales teams get more context
- Leads become easier to prioritize
- A connected operation
